Blue fox stole crafted using the air gallon technique allowing the fur to contour the body. This piece can be worn as a vest or classic stole with pleated leather concealed pockets inspired by the elytra of the Passalidae beetle. Elytra are the hardened forewing designed to protect the more delicate flight wings of a beetle. Protection. A reoccurring theme. Armor. A reflection of the times. Elytra are made of a fibrous polysaccharide called chitin- embedded in a matrix of various proteins. The elytra of the Passalidae also known as the North American "Bess beetle" - consists of bundles of chitin fibrils forming fibers that are aligned parallel rows which are laminated together. The inspiration for the construction of this sculptured leather piece.
